At DELVA Landscape Architecture & Urbanism, we are looking for a Project Lead or Senior Urban Designer for our offices in Amsterdam, Antwerp, or Stockholm. Someone who not only delivers projects from A to Z, but elevates them to the next level. You connect vision with execution, creativity with structure, and act as the face of DELVA towards clients, partners, and stakeholders.

The Role

As a Project Lead or Senior Urban Designer at DELVA, you will steer projects from initiation through to completion. You are responsible for defining and safeguarding project objectives, schedules, budgets, and quality standards. You lead multidisciplinary teams, guide both the design and implementation processes, and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with our high-quality ambitions.

Externally, you represent DELVA in meetings with clients, developers, municipalities, and other stakeholders. Internally, you ensure clear communication within the team, motivate colleagues, and make sure everyone works toward a shared and coherent end result.

What You Will Do

  • Design Phase: Guide the design process from start to finish, sharpen the design vision, and review and approve (technical) design proposals.
  • Planning & Organization: Develop realistic schedules, allocate team capacity, and safeguard deadlines.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and monitor budgets, identify additional work, and coordinate invoicing with partners and founders.
  • Monitoring & Risk Management: Track progress and quality, identify risks, and implement solutions when needed.
  • Execution & Delivery: Oversee implementation and make informed decisions regarding quality, budget, and execution.
  • Aftercare & Relationship Management: Evaluate completed projects, maintain client relationships, and identify new opportunities.
  • Team Leadership & Communication: Inspire and lead the team, present results, and actively promote your projects through PR and communication channels.

What We Ask

  • At least 5 years of experience as a project lead in landscape architecture, urban design, or a comparable design-driven field.
  • A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree (HBO/WO equivalent) in landscape architecture, urban design, architecture, project management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong skills in planning, budgeting, prioritizing, and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong persuasive abilities.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented, and results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent command of Dutch (required) and good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Availability of at least 32 hours per week.
